As an F1 visa international freshmen or international transfer student at UMass Dartmouth, you'll automatically be considered for the following scholarships based on your application and acceptance to UMassD. 

International Freshmen $10,000-$15,500 with a high school GPA of 2.75 and above 
International Transfers $10,000 with a transfer GPA of 3.0 and above

The merit scholarship is granted for a total of four years (eight semesters) as long as the student maintains full-time status (12 day credits each semester) and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 at UMassD. If the student drops below full-time (less than 12 day credits per semester) and/or falls below the required 3.0 GPA, the scholarship is permanently forfeited.

Complete and submit your undergraduate application. Once you finish your online application, please submit your $60 application fee. It is recommended that first-year applicants use the Common Application.

Application requirements

    1. Common App or UMass Dartmouth application; 
    2. High school transcripts with at least three years' grades; 
    3. English test scores; 

      All non-native speakers of English must demonstrate English language proficiency and are required to submit either one of the following scores: 

      TOEFL (79+)
      IELTS (6.0+)
      Cambridge English B2 First
      C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency (176+)
      Duolingo (105+)
      TOEFL Essential (9.0+)
      PTE (53+)
      ELS 112 level 

      Official test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency. If you’re planning to take the test, you can request that your scores be sent to UMass Dartmouth during the registration process. Alternatively, if you’ve already taken the test, you can directly request your official scores from the following organizations: College Board, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo or PTE.

    4. SAT/ACT test score (OPTIONAL)
    5. Letter of recommendation (OPTIONAL) from a teacher or school counselor: highly recommended for our most competitive programs, such as nursing, biology, engineering, and psychology
    6. A personal essay (OPTIONAL) (up to 650 words) that demonstrates qualities of leadership, community service, work experiences and/or other significant interests; this can be completed as part of your Common Application
    7. $60 application fee (Required).
