Overall experience

A memorable overseas study experience!

Before coming to the UK, I had never travelled outside India, so I was a little bit anxious but at the same also really excited about studying abroad. As I had only a few friends in the UK, I had to do in-depth research into study options in the UK and then make my own choice. As soon as I stepped out of the plane I realised that my stay in the UK will be an adventure of a lifetime!  I was welcomed by snow, which I have never seen before in my life!My MBA class consisted of students from various countries with a wide age range, which I really enjoyed, as during my Bachelor degree in India all my classmates were the same age and nationality. 
Despite the fact that my command of the English language was very good, it still took me some time to get used to different English accents of my classmates and teachers, now I can understand perfectly a native Liverpudlian without any problems. I also found the UK too quiet at the beginning, there are hardly any cars beeping and there is very little street noise. 
Chester is such a clean, safe and pleasant city. I really have to emphasise that people in Chester are one of the friendliest and kindest that you will ever meet.
Overall a very good life experience!!

An adventure of a lifetime!!!

I had never been to the UK before and I thought it would be an adventure of a lifetime to spend a year in a completely different environment. During my studies at the University of Chester I managed to get two jobs on campus through the Unijob scheme: one as a research assistant for the Department of Media and another one working as a programmer for the Careers and Employability Department.  I also took part in the Bootcamp training organised by the Riverside Innovation Centre which provided hands-on sessions about marketing, social media and business plan writing. I used to own my own company so I was familiar with many of the topics raised in the session; however for people with no business experience this was a fantastic opportunity to put theory into practice. When I found out about the Enterprise Challenge, I knew this was another very interesting opportunity not to be missed! I submitted an 800 word business plan and I managed to get through to the final where I had the opportunity to present my business proposal in front of 4 high profile business people including the Head of TATA Steel Europe and CEO of Click Media.
