Overview

The Courtauld Institute of Art is an international centre for the teaching and research of art history and conservation of art and architecture. Established in 1930, the Courtald Institute of Art is an independent college of the University of London and is also a major public gallery. It is located at Somerset House, London. The college offers undergraduate, graduate diploma, postgraduate, research and collaborative research degrees. The areas of study available at the college are classical/Byzantine/medieval, renaissance, early modern Europe, modern and contemporary, history of dress, conservation and technology and wall painting conservation. The Courtauld’s graduates move on to become art historians, curators, art dealers, journalists and heads of major museums and galleries around the world.
