Sheffield was voted as a top three student city in the UK by the Student Crowd 2023 and was named the UK鈥檚 greenest city (NatWest's Green Cities Report 2021). Additionally, Sheffield Hallam has been named 4th most affordable university in the UK according to The Times (2023), based on average costs of weekly rent, food, drink and transport.

Campus Development

GBP 250 million has been invested in transforming the university鈥檚 City Campus to provide exceptional new teaching and learning facilities. Three new zero-carbon ready buildings provide the latest technology and sustainability solutions, including new homes for Sheffield Business School, Sheffield Hallam University School of Law and social sciences and arts courses.

Chat to a current student

Prospective students now can connect one-on-one with student ambassadors, get impartial advice about student life, accommodation and courses, and get a real feel for what it鈥檚 like to study at Sheffield Hallam. The ambassadors, who are current students from various countries and subject areas, also share their experiences through online blogs.

These ambassadors play a key role in easing the transition into university life. Prospective applicants can select an ambassador based on their course, home country, hobbies and interests.

International Foundation Programme

The (IFP) is designed to support international and EU (non-UK) students in meeting the academic and English language entry qualifications required for undergraduate degrees. On successful completion, students qualify to progress onto a choice of more than 60 undergraduate degree programmes.

Sheffield Hallam offers three separate programme routes:

• Business, Law and Social Sciences
• Engineering
• Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths

The courses are designed to provide different entry points based on current English language level. There is a three-term programme starting in September and a two-term programme starting in January.
