Founded in 1907, the University of Saskatchewan (USask) is a public research institution located on the east side of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, Canada. It is the largest education institution within the province and offers a comprehensive selection of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, which span a wide range of subject areas.
There are approximately 26,600 students at the university, which includes a strong international community representing more than 130 countries worldwide. The University of Saskatchewan is a world leader in sustainability for higher education, taking top places in global rankings for its pioneering design and practices.
With a place in the top 100 universities worldwide according to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2023, placing 67th overall, USask has demonstrated its world-class performance against the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Within this, the university made particular progress against SDG 2, 鈥榋ero Hunger鈥, leaping from 52nd place to 16th 鈥 due in part to its pioneering in agriculture and bioresources. This is in addition to a top 20 place globally for 鈥楽ustainable Cities and Communities鈥.

Funding is awarded according to both merit-based and means-tested criteria. Students are automatically considered for certain awards at the time of admission, while others require a separate application. The University of Saskatchewan鈥檚 historic campus is located on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River on more than 2,000 acres of land. It is known for being one Canada鈥檚 most beautiful campuses and contains all the facilities and resources needed for students to excel academically, while also gaining a rich university experience.
The campus is self-contained learning environment. In addition to educational facilities, it is home to student accommodation facilities, sports facilities, food and drinks vendors, retail services, health and wellness clinics and so much more. There are even art galleries, gardens, and two museums on campus which student can visit to get inspired.
The university鈥檚 main library is a state-of-the-art facility which houses hundreds of thousands of books, journals, and digital resources which student can freely use for their studies.
