What will I learn?

Construction Managers supervise various design and construction projects from beginning to end. This degree will prepare you to pursue a career in this competitive and highly sought-after field.Professionally accredited by Engineers Australia, The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil and Construction Management) is strongly hands-on. You will apply engineering theory to real-world challenges, and in your final year, complete a major honours research project, as well as an industry-related design project.Throughout your degree youll learn in our specialist industry-standard facilities. We have the largest strong floor in the southern hemisphere and a 1200m long hydraulic testing facility. Youll also learn to use high-tech testing and computer modelling equipment.Through the UniSA STEM Professional Practice Program youll gain at least 450 hours of skills and competencies to ensure you graduate career ready. You will have access to a range of engagement activities such as placements, internships, guest lectures, industry panels, site visits, events and networking opportunities. This means if you change your mind about your Engineering specialisation after first-year, you can change programs and still complete your degree in 4 years full-time.In your first year you will develop a strong, general foundation in engineering. Youll then move into your civil engineering major. From third year onwards you will commence construction management courses, such as Construction Scheduling and Advanced Construction Management.This is a four-year, professional degree with honours. The honours component includes a minimum of one year of advanced studies in research and professional practice. You will receive First Class, Second Class or Third Class Honours, depending on your performance.You will graduate with industry experience and connections, and a higher-level qualification than a bachelor degree. Your honours year is designed to prepare you for future leadership roles in civil engineering and project management.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants are required to meet one of the following criteria with a competitive result, and demonstrate that they fulfil any prerequisite requirements and essential requirements for admission:

Recent secondary education:

Meet any prerequisite requirements with a minimum grade of C- or equivalent and

Complete secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE, or

Complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum score of 24 points

or

Higher education study

Complete or partly complete a recognized higher education program at a recognized higher education institution

or

Vocational Education and Training (VET)

Complete an award from a registered training organization at Certificate IV or above

or

Work and life experience

Hold completed secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE obtained more than 2 years in the past

English language requirements:

IELTS score of 6.0; TOEFL iBT score of 60 with Reading and Writing not less than 18; TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) score of 550 with TWE of 4.5; Cambridge CAE/CPE score of 169; Pearson's test of English (Academic) (PTE) score of 50 with Reading and Writing communicative scores not less than 50; CELUSA score of AE4.
