Bond鈥檚 accelerated three-semester-per-year timetable makes it easy to tackle a double degree. In fact, you can complete two degrees here in less time than you could graduate with just one at most other universities.
Bond鈥檚 Bachelor of Journalism / Bachelor of Laws combination, for instance, can be done in 4 years (12 semesters) whereas it can take up to 4 years to complete a single Law degree elsewhere.
The combination of Journalism and Law will help you develop a multi-layered skillset that will make you stand out to employers in almost any industry or work setting.
You will develop written and oral communication, and you will gain a thorough and up-to-the-minute understanding of digital platforms, social media, mainstream, and new media. The Bachelor of Laws is an approved degree for the purpose of admission to legal practice.
Studying these two in-demand degrees concurrently also represents a significant cost saving compared to studying the two degrees separately.
The Bachelor of Journalism is driven by a digital-first ethos and grounded in core journalistic traditions and values of truth, fairness, and accuracy. This approach will empower you to harness and exploit established and emerging technologies to create career opportunities and new pathways. Throughout your degree, you will learn to conceptualise and create original and compelling content across platforms and will be encouraged to use digital storytelling to engage with social issues and advocate for change. You will build a substantial portfolio of practical work aligned with industry standards, defining yourself as a specialised professional via a choice of real-world majors and minors. Access to world-class facilities and opportunities to report for local, national, and international media outlets will be available to you. We also offer journalism and digital media internships in Australia and abroad, including New York, Washington, Beijing, and London.
The Bachelor of Laws prepares students for a career as a legal professional, both within Australia and overseas. It provides students with a thorough grounding in essential areas of substantive law and access to a wide choice of law elective subjects, including the option of completing a specialisation. An integrated skills and professionalism program is embedded in the degree and focuses on core legal skills essential to the practice of law. The Bachelor of Laws provides an engaging learning experience that challenges students academically and prepares them practically for a legal career.
Where will your degree take you?
Completing this combined program will provide opportunities for a range of careers in the legal industry, private, government and not for profit sectors. Graduates may seek to practise law whilst utilising a foundational understanding of the production of content for a range of traditional and multimedia platforms.
The combined degree provides you with the professional outcomes and opportunities of both individual degrees and in conjunction with the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP), graduates can gain admission to legal practice.
