What will I learn?

The Bachelor of Mathematics Advanced is available to students who have achieved outstanding results at the highest level of mathematics in high school or have the equivalent level of knowledge on entry to UOW. This elite degree offers an accelerated program of studies to high-achieving students with a passion for mathematics.Students may choose to complete a major in:Pure MathematicsApplied MathematicsApplied StatisticsThe flexible structure of the degree and majors allows you to design a study program to meet your particular interests and abilities.A unique feature of our advanced program is that you will undertake supervised undergraduate research projects. These projects will enable you to work closely with active academic researchers to develop your independent learning and critical thinking and problem-solving skills.As an Advanced student, you will be invited to participate in networking and mentoring opportunities including summer research scholarships, corporate scholarships, and access to programs from the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) and inter-university courses via our Access Grid Room.An additional Honours year is available where students will expand their knowledge even further through targeted research.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.
In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.

English Requirements

IELTS Academic Overall Score of 6.0, reading 6.0, writing 6.0, listening 6.0, speaking 6.0; TOEFL (Internet-based) score of 70, reading 18, writing 18, listening 17, speaking 17; C1 Advanced Cambridge or C2 Proficiency Cambridge: 169; PTE Academic overall score of 54 (Reading and Writing 54, Speaking and Listening 47).
