What will I learn?

The Bachelor of Music in Composition builds on the knowledge and skills you gain in the Bachelor of Music. You will develop advanced skills in composition and learn through exposure to a range of musical styles, theory and literature. With project studies and work integrated learning courses, you will gain invaluable industry and professional experience. Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Music will not be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Music in Composition. Students wishing to undertake the Bachelor of Music in Composition should apply to transfer into the program once they complete the Bachelor of Music requirements.As a graduate composer, your career options may include writing or arranging for film, plays, television, concert performance, musical theatre or in new technology multimedia.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students who have successfully completed the requirements of the three-year Bachelor of Music (1419) and wish to extend their engagement with Composition rather than graduate with the three-year qualification are required to have a grade of 5 in Composition Study 3.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTS

We accept the following English tests for standard entry into undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs. IELTS: minimum score of 6.5, with no sub score less than 6.0 or TOEFL: a minimum score of 575 or Internet-based (IBT) TOEFL: a score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19) or Pearson Test of English (Academic): an overall score of 58 with no score less than 50.

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
