What will I learn?

Continuous disruption is the new normal and in ever changing environments it is essential for leaders to be able to communicate clearly and effectively. This course is ideal for those wanting to develop both an understanding and practice of being authentic, articulate and persuasive as a leader. Understand how people process information: Learn about how cognitive processing can help craft influential communication, including the effect of concrete vs. abstract language and the sequencing of statements. Become more influential by enhancing self-presentation: Learn the effect of verbal and non-verbal presentation, and how social identity and social learning process can support more reflective and deliberate communication practices. Communicate more authentically: Develop different ways of communicating effectively with peers, colleagues and stakeholders in a variety of online and face-to-face settings, according to the latest research and industry best practice. Apply leadership communications practices in your workplace: Learn how to analyse and explain various forms of leadership communication, and formulate a plan for integrating evidence-based practices in the workplace.

Skills and learning outcomes: By the end of this course, you will have enhanced communication skills as a leader aligned with industry best practice. You'll be able to: Analyse and explain the effectiveness of written, verbal, and non-verbal leadership communication, based on theories and evidence on cognitive processing, social identity formation, and social learning; Evaluate suitable leadership communication practices to influence followers and other stakeholders, in a variety of settings and communication channels; Formulate and justify a plan for integrating evidence-based leadership communication practices in the workplace.
