What will I learn?

The Master of Engineering Practice/ Master of Construction Management Practice aims to prepare students for roles managing people, equipment, materials, built environment and assets, as well as roles overseeing technological processes and with managerial aspects related to the design, construction and maintenance of buildings and civil infrastructure. It provides a structured study of advanced management theories, techniques and practices in the planning and management of building and infrastructure projects. Students gain significant knowledge and skills in procurement and project delivery, resource planning and management, project costing, health and safety, and risk management. They also learn about the environmental, financial, legal and contractual considerations associated with project-based industries.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants are required to have one of the following:

• a Bachelor of Engineering (in Civil or Infrastructure or Construction) (Honours) (minimum 4 years of full-time study) degree, or

• a Graduate Certificate of Engineering (in Civil or Structural or Infrastructure) degree, or

• a qualification deemed to be equivalent to any of the above.

English language requirements

Satisfactory completion of one of the following:

  • Swinburnes English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 70%, all skills 65% or above
  • minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
  • Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 58 (no communicative skills less than 50)
  • TOEFL iBT (internet-based) -79 (no less than 13 in reading, 12 in listening, 18 in speaking 21 in writing)
  • C1 Advanced - 176, no band less than 169
  • any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency.
