Why take the BKin / BEd (Elementary) combined program?

Do you dream of becoming a PhysEd teacher? This combined program allows you to complete two degrees 鈥 a Bachelor of Kinesiology, and a Bachelor of Education (Elementary) 鈥 in just five years.

By studying Kinesiology, you鈥檒l gain expertise in human movement, exercise science, and athletic movement, preparing you for a variety of related careers in teaching and sport.

The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation gives you access to all the state-of-the-art learning, research, and athletic facilities at the University of Alberta, while offering small class sizes and specialized, interactive programs. With every degree program, you鈥檒l also have the opportunity to gain work experience by completing a practicum in your final year.

As of January 1, 2018, the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation is now the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation. If you are applying to this faculty for Fall 2018 admission, select 鈥淔aculty of Physical Education and Recreation鈥 on the admission application form. Once admitted, you will be a student within the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students applying directly from high school.

Admission is based on complete academic history and achievement in three main areas: Grades, English proficiency, and completion of required subjects.

English language Requirement:

TOEFL: iBT: At least 90 with a minimum score of 21 points in each section

IELTS(Academic): At least 6.5 with no band less than 6.0

CanTEST(Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees): At least 4.5, with no part lower than 4

PTE(Academic): At least 61, with no less than 60 in each communicative skill

CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language assessment) Either CAEL (paper) or CAEL CE (computer): A score of at least 70, with no band less than 60

Duolingo English Test: 120 for English Language Proficiency, with no sub score below 100
