What will I learn?

A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) is an opportunity to explore and discover ideas. It provides you with the tools you need to discriminate between fact and fiction, to pose tough questions and provide full answers, to observe soundly, to articulate your arguments in a clear and concise fashion, and to be open to other ideas without surrendering your own.

Your degree provides you with a breadth, depth and diversity of study that will equip you with the skills of both an expert and a generalist. MacEwan’s B.Sc. is designed to offer flexibility and customization.

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) at MacEwan University emphasizes both breadth and depth of study and has been designed for flexibility and customization. You can declare a primary major and a minor, or a primary major and a secondary major, or a primary major and two minors.

Breadth requirements

Breadth requirements for your degree are designed to broaden your horizons and extend your knowledge. Courses in literacy, humanities, sciences, social sciences, analytical studies and fine arts give you a grounding in different fields of study to help you determine your interests and strengths. This can be helpful when you decide on your major(s) and minor(s). Most students complete breadth requirements in the first two years of university.

Primary major

Your major allows you to study a subject in great depth. It can lead you towards your career or graduate studies in a specific area. We encourage you to explore several subject areas before you decide on your major.

Secondary major or minor

You explore a second subject in greater depth as a requirement of your degree. You have the option to complete a secondary major, a minor or two minors.
