What will I learn?

Sharpen your skills and techniques as a stylist under the guidance of industry veteran instructors and learn the ins-and-outs of the workplace鈥攃ustomer service, client booking, effective product sales鈥攊n our full-service salon learning environment.

Women and men鈥檚 haircuts, barbering, colour and chemical texture services鈥攖hese are the skills employers demand of our Hairstyling graduates and they are the ones you will explore in detail in this program. Apprenticeship Manitoba Level 1 accreditation means students who successfully complete the program and accreditation requirements receive credit toward their apprenticeship path. And participation in MITT鈥檚 Work Skills Series workshops ensures you enter the workforce with a strong foundation in the employability and essential skills employers demand.

Individuals who are passionate about the latest trends in hairstyling, enjoy hands-on work, and thrive on one-on-one interaction with a client to help them achieve鈥攁nd properly maintain鈥攖heir desired look.

Continuous Program Improvement:

MITT continuously reviews and improves programs to maintain relevance in the workplace and effective learning experiences for all students. Entry requirements

For international students

High school diploma (or expected completion within 45 days of the program start date), or equivalent. International applicants must meet the general entrance requirements based on country/curriculum of study. Applicants must also meet the program-specific requirements, including:

  • Senior level Math with a grade of 50 per cent or higher, or equivalent.
  • Senior level First Language Literature with a grade of 50 per cent or higher, or equivalent.

*All high school grades will be converted to an equivalent Manitoba grade scale.

English language requirement:

  • IELTS (Academic) (International English Language Testing System): 6.0 overall, no band less than 5.5
  • PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic): 54
  • TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based): Overall score of 78, with no less than 17 in each component
  • CAEL CE & CAEL Online (Canadian Academic English Assessment): 60
  • Cambridge English Advanced Certificate (C1): Scale Score of 180 / Grade of C
