The Department of Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine provides a program leading to the degree of Master of Science (MSc) in Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine jointly with the Medical Sciences Program. Further information on these two programs can be found below and in the Medical Sciences Section.
Research may be carried out in a variety of Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine related disciplines (i.e., neuroscience, regional anaesthesia, and cognition). Inquiries should be directed to the Graduate Coordinator of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine.

Candidates must hold a baccalaureate or its academic equivalent to enter this program. The Department generally does not accept students with an overall grade point average of less than 3.1 in their undergraduate years at the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
English language requirement:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT): Total score of 90 with a score of at least 21 on each of the individual skill areas (internet-based) or equivalent; IELTS: 6.5, with at least 6.0; PTE Academic: 61 with a minimum band score of 60.
