Program Overview

Get training for a specialized career in automation and design

After building a strong foundation of mechanical engineering knowledge, you'l study more specialized design functions used in aerospace, energy, automotive, biotechnology, robotics and building facilities. You'll also gain an understanding of niche concepts like advanced CAD/CAM, simulation, automation, HVAC, VR, robotics, additive manufacturing and AI in design analysis function. Gain real-world experience and build connections

Sheridan鈥檚 labs simulate the workplace, but they can鈥檛 completely replicate it. Put your new mechanical engineering skills to work for our industry partners in two 12-month paid co-op terms: one after your third semester and another in your third year of studies. You鈥檒l also collaborate with peers to help our partners resolve a real-world issue in your capstone research project. Earn credits towards a degree or other certification

As a graduate of this program, you鈥檒l have the opportunity to transfer into the third year of Sheridan鈥檚 Honours Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree (some bridge courses will be required.) You鈥檒l also have completed all of the academic requirements of personal certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).

Entry requirements

For international students

Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including these required courses:

One English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or ENG4U) plus

One Math Grade 12 (U) or Math Grade 12 Mathematics for College Technology (MCT4C) or Math Grade 11 Functions (MCR3U) or Functions and Applications (MCF3M) or

Mature student status.

English Proficiency Requirements

IELTS - overall score 6.0 with no individual band below 5.5

TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and TOEFL iBT Home Edition (DI Code: 9117) - overall score 80 with no individual section below 20

iTEP Academic - overall score 3.7

PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) online or in person - overall score 58 with no individual section below 49

Duolingo English Language Test - overall score of 105 with no individual subscore lower than 85

Cambridge English Test Exams (B2 First/C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency score) - overall Cambridge English Scale score 169 with no individual score below 162

CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) online or in person - overall score 60 with no individual section below 50

Sheridan EPA test - Listening Band - 4.0 Reading Combined Band - 4.0 Writing - CLB 7

Sheridan's ESL program EAP level - A minimum score of 70% in listening and speaking and 70% in reading and writing. General Education courses and Navigating Digital Environments (INFO) minimum required grade of 50%.
