Program Overview
Still deciding what you want to do? Take a GAS year, not a GAP year!
Designed to be as flexible or focused as you want it to be, the 8-month (two-semester) GAS-C pathway allows you to discover what interests you by exploring various areas of study while earning credits transferable towards future post-secondary programs. In partnership with the Faculty of Social & Community Services, students also have the option of sampling courses from six different diploma programs. Earn a certificate as unique as you are, while developing the critical thinking and communication skills needed to succeed in today's world. This General Certificate program prepares you to continue your studies in college or university by helping you strengthen essential academic skills and habits while you become familiar with post-secondary life, expectations, and opportunities.
Career Options
As a graduate, you may use your newly acquired and refined skillset to pursue employment opportunities or to further your studies in another diploma, advanced diploma, or degree program. Some General Arts and Science courses are also transferable to other post-secondary programs.
PLEASE NOTE:
It is each student’s responsibility to ensure that the courses they register in are appropriate for the stated admission requirements for future program choices.
Successful completion of the GASC certificate does not guarantee admission into another post-secondary program.
Since each educational institution determines its own admission requirements, if you are planning to attend another college or a university, please ensure that the courses taken meet the other institution’s admission requirements.
The student advisor offers individual academic planning assistance; students are strongly encouraged to meet with their advisor before selecting their courses.
