What will I learn?

If you have a background in engineering, strong technical skills, an analytical approach to problem-solving, and a desire to keep up with integration and automation happening in industry, this program may be for you! This four-semester Ontario College Graduate Certificate will focus on control systems design using PLCs, electrical motors and drives, robotics, and fluid power based on the Canadian Electrical Code.

This innovative management-focused program expands on your knowledge of AC and DC power for motion propulsion technologies to explore the design and implementation of electrical automation systems using robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and fluid power systems. Through hands-on learning in our well-equipped training facilities you will learn the skills and knowledge required to contribute to modernization of industry.

As a graduate, you will be prepared to enter a variety of exciting industrial settings such as manufacturing, automotive, logistics, pharmaceuticals, packaging, food processing.

Entry requirements

For international students

A three-year advanced diploma or a degree from an accredited college or university in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field (e.g. electro-mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, manufacturing engineering) OR
A three-year advanced diploma or a degree in another discipline with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in electrical engineering-related work.

English Language Requirements:

  • IELTS overall band of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT 88
  • CAEL 70, no sub-test band score less than 60
  • PTE Academic 58
  • CELAP (Conestoga English Language Assessment and Placement) - 82 or higher
  • Duolingo English Test minimum score of 115
  • Cambridge Exams minimum score of 180, with no individual skill less than 170
