What will I learn?

Information technology (IT) is integral to our lives. It supports scientific breakthroughs, makes organisations more effective and whole sectors of our economy depend on it. All this requires professionals with a solid understanding of technology and the environment organisations operate in.

This BSc(Hons) Information Technology programme prepares you to take on the challenges of our IT industries by building vital professional and personal skills. You will develop a solid grounding in various industry-relevant modules, allowing you to navigate emerging technologies and a constantly-evolving, globalised economy.

This programme gives you the option to complete a:

2+1 (2 years at BAC and the final year at the University of the West of England)

With this Course, You Will:

  • Explore vital professional skills in programming, security, the web, forensics and business.
  • Be able to apply what you learn to a computing project or information systems dissertation.
  • Gain an inside track on the industry through presentations from visiting professionals.
  • Be able to choose from a broad range of IT career, including systems analysis, database analysis, programming, software engineering, network administration, web administration and e-commerce.

Entry requirements

For international students

Entry requirements may vary from country to country..

  • A pass in Matriculation or Foundation studies with minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 and a Credit in Mathematics at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or its equivalent; or
  • A pass in STPM with a minimum Grade C (GP 2.0) in any 2 subjects and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent;
  • A Diploma (Level Four Malaysian Qualifications Register, MQF) in Computer Science OR Software Engineering OR Information Technology OR Information Systems or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 and a Credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent; or
  • Any other Diploma (Level Four MQF) in Science and Technology or Business Studies with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 may be admitted (subject to a rigorous internal assessment process and a Credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent
  • Candidates with CGPA below 2.5 but above 2.0 with a Credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent may be admitted, subject to a rigorous internal assessment process.
  • Candidate with a Credit in computing related subject at SPM or STPM level or its equivalent may be given preferential consideration.
