What will I learn?

As part of our move into Te P奴kenga were excited to be part of a large-scale review of courses. This is ongoing, and means that some course details including fees, and entry requirements may change. In the meantime please go ahead and apply as normal and we are always available to answer any questions you might have.

Offered in partnership with Unitec Te P奴kenga, you'll get your hands dirty straight away, learning about ecosystems, conservation issues, sustainable management of land, animals, and plant life, as well as the management strategies that promote the conservation of biodiversity and address bio-security.

As a biodiversity management student, youll explore how ecosystems function and support biological diversity, and how managers of biodiversity are responding to increasing concern over the impact of human activities on the planet.

Find out how society views and influences the natural environment, discover how social, cultural, and policy frameworks influence management decisions, and develop plant identification knowledge and skills.

Youll also develop an appreciation of the influence that government agencies, non-statutory organisations, and voluntary bodies have on biodiversity and bio-security.

The Environmental Management pathway at Toi Ohomai offers three qualifications in three years:

After one year of study: New Zealand Diploma in Environmental Management (Level 5)
After two years of study: New Zealand Diploma in Environmental Management (Level 6)
After three years of study: Bachelor of Applied Science (Biodiversity Management) (From Unitec Te P奴kenga)
