What will I learn?

Study a Bachelor of Computer Science at Waikato and develop the skills and thinking to creatively and effectively use technology. Solve challenges faced by businesses and communities and become a leader in the tech industry. The Bachelor of Computer Science is a specialised, industry aligned, three-year degree where you will gain experience in a wide range of fields. Learn how to identify and solve problems, and apply and evaluate solutions and techniques.This programme will be accredited by the Seoul Accord, an international agreement that establishes that accredited programmes equip graduates for the workforce. As a graduate of this programme, you will be on your way to becoming recognised as a Chartered Information Technology Professional under Chartered IT Professional NZ (CITPNZ), an international gold standard accreditation.You can also choose to take a minor in any subject offered at the University.

Entry requirements

For international students

Entry requirements vary from country to country.

Students are eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Computer Science if they have University Entrance, or its equivalent. All other applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

English Language Requirements

  • an Academic IELTS overall score of 6.0 (with no bands below 5.5), or
  • a TOEFL iBT (Internet Based TOEFL) score of 80 with a Writing score of 21, or
  • a TOEFL iBT Home Edition score of 80 with a Writing score of 21, or
  • a B grade or better at Level 7 in the Certificate of Attainment in Academic English, or
  • a PTE Academic overall score of 46 with no band less than 36, or
  • a Language-Cert International ESOL (LRWS) B2 Communicator Expert with 33-37 score per skill, or
  • awarded a New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Academic) (Level 4), or
  • a Trinity College London Integrated Skills in English (ISE) II with distinction in all four components, or
  • a B2 First (formally known as Cambridge English: First (FCE)) with an overall score of 169 and no bands below 162, or
  • a C2 Proficiency (formally known as Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)) with an overall score of 169 and no bands below 162, or
  • a Michigan English Test (formally known as Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB)) minimum score of 54.
