What will I learn?

A childs early years have a significant impact on their lifelong development. As an early childhood teacher, you will provide experiences that lay the foundations for later learning with the help of wh膩nau and the community.Gain skills supporting child development and growing their love for learning.Placements in early childhood settings to experience working with and teaching young children.Opportunities for international teaching and multicultural learning experiences, with placements at early childhood centres around the Pacific.Working in early childhood offers you a challenging, interactive, and rewarding career caring for infants, toddlers, and young children in their important early stages.From your placements throughout the degree, you will have teaching skills and experiences from a variety of education settings that could also apply to any area working with children and wh膩nau.Career pathways could include: early childhood teaching, childcare services, advocacy, government.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must have completed New Zealand University Entrance through NCEA; or Cambridge International Examinations (CIE); or International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) or any other equivalent overseas qualification.

Applicants must also satisfy our English language entry requirements:

IELTS (Academic): Listening: 7.0, Reading: 7.0, Writing: 7.0, Speaking: 7.0, OVERALL, MARK (in one test): 7.0.

TOEFL (IBT): Listening: 24, Reading: 24, Writing: 27, Speaking: 23, OVERALL, MARK (in one test): 98 minimum.

PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic): Listening: 65, Reading: 65, Writing: 65, Speaking: 65, OVERALL, MARK (in one test): 65.

Cambridge English exams C2 Proficiency (CPE) or C1 Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English exams: Listening: 185 minimum, Reading: 185 minimum, Writing: 185 minimum, Speaking: 185 minimum. OVERALL, MARK (in one test): 185 minimum

Applications are open throughout the year 31 October for international students.
