What will I learn?

Teaching and learning is founded on meaningful interactions. Primary Teaching allows you to encourage and discover children's lifelong potential and make a real difference to their lives. If you are energetic, creative, and enjoy working with kids, teaching is the right career for you.Learn how to teach the Primary curriculum, including mathematics, English, science, technology, social studies, health and PE, art, music, dance, drama, and languages.Develop your teacher identity and the skills to be advocates, leaders, and creators of knowledge in the Primary sector.Bicultural focus interweaving M膩ori and Western knowledge and M膩ori teaching practices, including a noho marae experience and Te reo M膩ori me on膩 tikanga courses that will be taught in each year.125 days of mentored professional learning experience in a kura/early childhood centre/school 麻豆原创 an experienced kaiako.A Primary Teaching degree opens up teaching and management job opportunities in primary, intermediate, middle, and area schools.You will also have transferable skills to roles outside of teaching that involve knowledge of education and learning as well as working with young people.Career pathways could include: primary teaching, education policy, community and youth work, advocacy.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants must have completed New Zealand University Entrance through NCEA; or Cambridge International Examinations (CIE); or International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) or any other equivalent overseas qualification.

Applicants must also satisfy our English language entry requirements:

IELTS (Academic): Listening: 7.0, Reading: 7.0, Writing: 7.0, Speaking: 7.0, OVERALL, MARK (in one test): 7.0.

TOEFL (IBT): Listening: 24, Reading: 24, Writing: 27, Speaking: 23, OVERALL, MARK (in one test): 98 minimum.

PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic): Listening: 65, Reading: 65, Writing: 65, Speaking: 65, OVERALL, MARK (in one test): 65.

Cambridge English exams C2 Proficiency (CPE) or C1 Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English exams: Listening: 185 minimum, Reading: 185 minimum, Writing: 185 minimum, Speaking: 185 minimum. OVERALL, MARK (in one test): 185 minimum

Applications are open throughout the year 31 October for international students.
