What will I learn?

The Master of Education (MEd) allows a pathway for current teachers, educational professionals, counsellors, and leaders to gain a master's level qualification examining practice and critical issues in education.This is an ideal qualification for those who have already undertaken some postgraduate study to achieve research-informed teaching and leadership in their educational setting.Option to study in a specialised area of education, ranging from Digital Education Futures to Special and Inclusive Education.This study will help you gain further insight into your educational practice, and develop skills in new and emerging theories of education, which could lead to new opportunities in leadership or research in the field.

Entry requirements

For students from Hong Kong

Students for the 120-point pathway must have completed either a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning with Honours, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, or equivalent degree, with at least a B+ Grade Point Average. Students for the 180-point pathway must have: a bachelor's degree with a major in Education, Psychology, a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification; or any other degree from an Aotearoa New Zealand university, and hold a professional teaching qualification; or been admitted Ad Eundem Statum (with equivalent standing) as entitled to enrol for the Master of Education.

For international students

You will need to have a bachelor's degree (or an equivalent degree) with a major in Education, Psychology, or a related subject with a B grade average; or have any Aotearoa university degree and a professional teaching qualification.

Applicants must also satisfy our English language entry requirements:

IELTS (Academic): An average score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
TOEFL (IBT): Total minimum score of 90, minimum score of 19 in reading, writing, and listening.
PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic): PTE with an overall score of 58 and no PTE communicative skills score below 50.
