What will I learn?

The MFoodSci provides students with the opportunity to gain specialist knowledge and skills in the key aspects of Food Science, including food chemistry, food safety and food process engineering. The MFoodSci programme includes a mix of taught courses and a research project conducted under the supervision of a food science academic. The programme provides a bridge for students with an undergraduate degree in food science related disciplines to move into the food science area. MFoodSci graduates will receive training in food science and substantive research experience in this field. On completion of the degree, students will be equipped to apply their skills and understanding in careers in the food industry or in food science. This programme also provides a pathway to PhD studies.

Entry requirements

For international students

Taught180 points: An undergraduate degree in Food Science, or another relevant subject. You need GPE 4.0.

IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 and bands less than 6.0; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 90 and written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 68 and a writing score of 21; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 176 and no bands below 169; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 58 and no PTE Communicative score below 50; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of B-; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 85.
