What will I learn?

Broaden the scope of your practice by growing your knowledge in urban planning and the preservation and adaptive reuse of heritage buildings.The Master of Urban Planning (Professional) and Heritage Conservation gives you a sound platform for the realities of contemporary practice. In less time that it takes to complete the two degrees separately, you will gain a professionally-recognised urban planning qualification, and increase your knowledge of how old buildings were built and how they can be preserved. This programme combines courses from the two standalone masters programmes. Through taught seminars and studios, you will examine a range of case studies of best urban planning practice, as well as explore conservation theory and practice. Youll be able to explore areas of interest and submit a 15,000 word (approximate) dissertation of personal research. The programme is structured to facilitate connection with practising urban planning professionals and heritage conservationists.

Entry requirements

For international students

You must hold at least an undergraduate degree from a recognised university (or similar institution) in a related field, such as (but not limited to) environmental science, politics and international relations, economics, geography or architecture.

You will need a GPE of 5.0 in your final year of study.

IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 and no bands less than 6.0; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 90 and written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 68 and a writing score of 21; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 176 and no bands below 169; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 58 and no PTE Communicative score below 50; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of B-; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 85.
