Satisfactory Completion:

To satisfactorily complete the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching(Level 4), and be awarded this qualification the student must successfully achieve:

A minimum of 40 credits in accordance with the Programme schedule for the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 4)
The student will normally be expected to complete the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 4) full-time over three months or part-time over three years.

Qualification Pathways:

This qualification may lead to Level 5 qualifications in adult and tertiary teaching such as:

New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5)
New Zealand Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy (Vocational/Workplace) (Level 5)

It can also lead to the New Zealand Certificate in Assessment Practice (Level 4) for those with a specific interest in assessment practice.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants for this programme of study must have access to a minimum of 6 adult (e.g. over the age of 18) learners over the duration of the programme of study in order to enable them to undertake learning and reflection in an authentic setting.

General Admission

Applicants should be a minimum of 16 years of age and must hold either:

40 credits at NCEA Level 1 (including 10 Literacy credits and 10 Numeracy credits)
A relevant qualification at NZQF Level 2 or above, or a recognised equivalent.

IELTS test: General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5. TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14); PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36; Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First or B2 First for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill. OET: Minimum of Grade C or 200 in all sub-tests. NZCEL - Level 3 (Applied). Language Cert - B2 Communicator International ESOL Written (LRW) PASS with no less than 25/50 in each skill and Spoken (S) PASS.
