What will I learn?

The New Zealand construction industry is the fifth largest sector in the economy and is growing fast. The industry are crying out for qualified tradespeople to meet the demand in residential, commercial building, and infrastructure development projects. This programme will give you the practical skills and knowledge you need to carry out various construction-related jobs. The courses cover essential skills in building and construction, including workplace safety and allied trades specific knowledge and projects.

You'll graduate work-ready with transferable skills for a wide range of construction-related trades.

Career & Study Outcomes

Successful graduates of the New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trade Skills (Allied) (Level 3) strand can further specialise in carpentry by enrolling in the New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4).

Graduates entering the industry will be ready to find an apprenticeship or entry-level jobs in the building and construction sector. You will be able to execute your work with limited supervision.

Entry requirements

For international students

NCEA Level 1 or equivalent.

English language Requirement: IELTS - General or Academic: Score of 5.0 with no band lower than 5; TOEFL (iBT) - Score of 35 (with a writing score of 14); Cambridge English Qualifications - B2 with score of 154; no less than 154 in each skill; OET - Minimum Grade C or 200 in all subtests; NZCEL - Level 3 (General); and Pearson Test of English (Academic) - Score of 36 with no band less than 36.

Applicants under 20 years of age:

For international applicants under 20 years of age who do not hold NCEA, International Academic Qualifications Entry Criteria apply (Entry requirements vary from country to country).
