What will I learn?

Gain a broad understanding of the core concepts and practical skills in IT, with a technical support focus to equip you for employment in roles such as computer technician, service desk or technical support, or prepare you for further study.Gain an awareness of the IT environment, appreciate the needs of users, be able to provide IT technical support, and operate within the applicable professional standards and practice as part of a team or independently.You will learn how to:select, install and configure IT hardware and systems software to meet organisational requirements.apply a broad operational knowledge of networking, and associated services and technologies to meet typical organisational requirements.apply the fundamentals of information systems concepts and practice to support and enhance organisational processes and systems.apply professional, legal, and ethical principles and practices in a socially responsible manner as an emerging IT professional.identify common issues related to IT security and apply a range of solutions.

Entry requirements

For international students

  • New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Essentials (Level 4) or
  • Equivalent knowledge, life skills, work experience or study

IELTS Test - General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5; TOEFL Paper-based Test (pBT) where the test was carried out prior to 1 October 2017 Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE); TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14); Cambridge English Examinations - B2 First or B2 First for Schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill; OET - Minimum of Grade C or 200 in all sub-tests; NZCEL Expiring - Level 4 (General) or (Workplace); Current - Level 4 (General) or (Employment); Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36; Language Cert B2 Communicator IESOL (LRWS) with HIGH PASS and no less than Pass in each skill; Trinity ISE - ISE II with no less than merit in any band.
