What will I learn?

This programme is for health professionals working in a range of healthcare settings who are responsible for undergraduate education, junior practitioners and other specialist training programmes. The PGCertClinEd aims to develop the skills necessary to become an excellent educator within a wide range of healthcare settings. It has a flexible format and provides opportunities for students to undertake research projects in their area of interest. Graduates will find that this programme will enhance specialist knowledge and skills and provide entry into specific occupations in areas of education. We advise that the University of Auckland is not involved in the employment of graduates and can make no guarantee of post-qualification registration or employment in New Zealand or any other country.

Entry requirements

For international students

You must have completed a relevant clinical degree at a recognised university (or similar institution) or a health-professional qualification.

You must have two years relevant clinical work experience and currently be engaged in clinical teaching or curriculum development in a health-related discipline.

Relevant clinical degrees include degrees in medicine, midwifery, nursing, optometry, pharmacy and physiotherapy.

IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 and no bands below 6.0; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 90 and written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 68 and a writing score of 21; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 176 and no bands below 169; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 58 and no PTE Communicative score below 50; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of B-; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 85.
