What will I learn?

Learn about the zoo industry and both UK and international wildlife management, with our Animal Science (Zoo and Wildlife Conservation) degree at ARU Writtle. As a student at ARU Writtle, youll explore a holistic approach to animal husbandry through modules on applied behaviour and welfare, breeding and animal health management. We combine elements of practical animal management courses, with scientific study of topics such as conservation genetics and animal health.Youll be taught by subject-specialist staff, and benefit from campus facilities including dedicated canine and equine centres, a small animal unit and a working farm. You'll take part in animal handling practicals involving work with a range of domesticated and captive animal species, as well as laboratory classes.Throughout your course, theres the chance to join 鈥榖ehind the scenes trips and other experiences.If youre passionate about zoo animals and wildlife, and want to support their health and welfare, our Animal Science (Zoo and Wildlife Conservation) course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to pursue a successful career.

Entry requirements

For international students

Entrants will normally be required to hold 120 Level 4 & 120 Level 5 credits ( i.e HND) from a relevant subject, or equivalent. Alternative qualifications may be accepted. If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.0 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University. An International Baccalaureate with a minimum of 24 points. IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each element. TOEFL iBT with 80 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking.
