BA (Hons) Animation Production course information

Our illustrious alumni at Pixar, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), and Aardman testify to the success of our course. On BA (Hons) Animation Production, you'll be led by a skill-set curriculum in industry-standard studio environments.

Three reasons to study BA (Hons) Animation Production at AUB:

  1. We use traditional drawing and painting skills extensively, to underpin the development of technical abilities relevant to contemporary professional practice.
  2. There are elective workshops to promote an exploratory approach to learning and teaching, allowing you to navigate practice on both a group and individual basis.
  3. In the final year, you'll work on a group-based filmmaking project that simulates a real-world production scenario, helping to prepare you for roles in the industry.

We're very proud of our employability rate. Many BA (Hons) Animation Production graduates have gone to work in studios across the world, with students often being ‘snapped up ahead of graduation. Our students work in 2D traditional animation, 3D computer animation, stop-motion puppet animation, games art direction and many other areas of animation and film. Entry requirements

For international students

All applicants must have Level 3 qualifications, which will normally include at least one creative subject. We're looking for between 112 and 120 UCAS Tariff points. You can use the UCAS Tariff Calculator to work out how many points you have.

The standard offers for degree courses include:

  • GCE A-Levels – BBB at A-Level excluding General Studies, or 120 UCAS Tariff points
  • Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Pass
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Distinction* Distinction*
  • T-level grade of Merit or above
  • BTEC/OCR Extended Diploma at Distinction, Merit, Merit
  • RSL/UAL Diploma – must be combined with other Level 3 qualifications equivalent to 112-120 UCAS Tariff points
  • RSL/ UAL Extended Diploma at Merit
  • A combination of BTEC Subsidiary Diploma and A-Levels – equivalent to 120 UCAS Tariff points
  • Three BTEC Subsidiary Diploma passes at Grade Merit
  • Scottish Highers – five passes at Grade C or above.

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
