What will I learn?

OVERVIEW

At UWS we offer three qualifications in career guidance and development.

Completing our most popular course, the Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Career Guidance and Development, will support you to develop professional practice competence working with individuals and groups and to undertake critical analysis of key aspects of career guidance and development practice.

A PGCert option is also available for students wishing to complete one year of part-time study only.

Having completed the PGDip or an equivalent qualification at another institution, students can return to study our masters 'top-up' module to obtain a full MSc in Career Guidance and Development. Our masters route is focused on continuous professional development through practitioner-researcher skills, and supports students to take the opportunity to promote their work within the sector.

CAREERS

Graduates have a successful record of gaining employment as career guidance and development professionals in the public, private and third sectors across the UK and internationally, including with Skills Development Scotland (working in schools and with adult clients), in colleges, universities, local authorities and in civil service roles.

The video below was produced by Skills Development Scotland about Careers Adviser roles with them, and features several graduates from this programme.
