What will I learn?

Introduction

With an ever-growing demand for skilled electronic engineers, our IET accredited course will equip you with the skills and expertise you鈥檒l need to meet the challenges of a constantly changing industrial world. You鈥檒l have the latest technology at your fingertips in our new laboratories and be able to collaborate with other students on innovative projects to hone your skills. This programme is CEng accredited and fulfils the educational requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer when presented with a CEng accredited Bachelors programme.

Our course covers a number of contemporary topics, including power electronics, signal processing, renewable systems, holistic modeling of electronic systems and image processing. Building on your previous experience, and with developed practical skills, you鈥檒l leave with the expert knowledge and understanding to practice safely and effectively in a wide range of environments. Students have previously visited Pico Technology as part of their course. Our specially equipped laboratories provide you with the essential tools you need in the field of industrial electronics and microelectronics. Among other features they are equipped with wind and solar energy systems, development boards with FPGA circuits and power electronics modules. You鈥檒l also have access to our CAD laboratories with the very latest software.

How you'll be assessed

You鈥檒l be assessed through exams, written assignments, demos and vivas based on case studies and scenarios.

Careers

The possibilities that are open to you range from design or systems engineering, to medical electronics, environmental monitoring, microelectronics, sound technology, biophysics, power, transport, industrial process control, and teaching. Across industry, there鈥檒l be opportunities to find your own specialist niche. You could also apply your newly acquired skills to enter a research degree (PhD, ProfDoc).

Entry requirements

For international students

Students need to have a first degree, with honours, in a related subject and at a minimum final classification of lower second (2:2) or equivalent. Students will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 ( Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognized by Anglia Ruskin University. TOEFL iBT with 88 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking.
