What will I learn?

Overview

The Healthcare Technologies MSc/MRes will train students in healthcare engineering and build their clinical and industrial awareness of problems and solutions for technology in modern global healthcare. The MSc/MRes will prepare students for doctoral research degrees or employment in the healthcare sector.

Course detail

Our programme is designed to provide students with an advanced and comprehensive understanding of the engineering challenges facing modern, global healthcare. The programme will enable students to take advantage of the breadth of knowledge at our institution, exposing them to the most recent and most exciting developments in medical and surgical intervention and to tailor their programme toward their own career ambitions. Our programme's modules will introduce students to the most important concepts and techniques that underpin the most recent advances in healthcare technology such as machine learning, medical devices & robotics, state-of-the-art medical imaging and smart molecules. Substantial components of project work will enable them to test and understand the theory and applications studied 麻豆原创 internationally recognised engineers, clinicians and industrial partners.

Teaching and assessment

We will use a delivery method that will ensure students have a rich, exciting experience from the start. Face to face teaching will be complemented and supported with innovative technology so that students also experience elements of digital learning and assessment. Assessment methods will depend on the modules selected. The primary method of assessment for this course is: All 15-credit modules will comprise 50% written examination and 50% coursework.

Career prospects

Students on our BMEIS MSc/MRes programmes have gone on to build careers in further academic research, industry (both healthcare and non-healthcare related) and in local healthcare.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students should have minimum 2:1 first degree (or equivalent) in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or Medicine. In order to meet the academic entry requirements for this programme you should have a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree with a final mark of at least 60% or above in the UK marking scheme. If you are still studying you should be achieving an average of at least 60% or above in the UK marking scheme. IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill; TOEFL iBT: 92 overall with a minimum of 23 in writing and 20 in each of the other skills.
