What will I learn?

Course overview MA Costume is driven by the concept of ‘embracing the past to inform the future’. The course focuses on handcraft and traditional excellence in cut and construction. You will integrate these with digital design and production techniques. You will consider designing costume for diverse audiences. The course places an emphasis on sustainable and ethical production methods. You will have the opportunity to expand and complement historical production by utilising digital print, digital embroidery, laser cutting and 3D printing. You will carry out research by exploring fabric, handling and fabrication treatments. You will have multiple opportunities to realise your designs through collaborative projects. What to expect: Learn about construction and cut: You will look at both traditional and new approaches to costume design and creation. Research: You will be taught research methods and skills to support your practice. Collaboration: Work together with other costume and performance students at Wimbledon College of Arts. An ethical focus: Explore climate, social and racial justice and learn how to embed these principles into your creative practice. Access to Wimbledon's shared workshops: View the Wimbledon facilities. Mode of study MA Costume is offered in full-time mode and runs for 45 weeks over 12 months. You will be expected to commit an average of 40 hours per week to your course, including teaching hours and independent study.

Entry requirements

For international students

The standard minimum entry requirements for this course are: BA (Hons) degree or equivalent academic qualifications, alternative qualifications and experience will also be taken into consideration, personal statement, portfolio of work. IELTS level 6.5 or above, with at least 5.5 in reading, writing, listening and speaking and TOEFL IBT overall score 90 with minimum listening - 17, reading - 18, writing - 17, speaking - 20.
