What will I learn?

Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine is a rapidly evolving branch of medicine involved in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, coronary heart disease and peripheral vascular disease. This online Masters course in Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine is designed to be practical and clinically focused and will focus on applying scientific principles to direct patient care. Run with our partners Diploma MSc it aims to create professionals who can independently access information and use the information to critically assess, evaluate and disseminate the evidence base related to Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine.

It will develop problem solving and clinical skills together with preparing students to take a leadership role. As such, on completion of the MSc Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine, you will be able to deliver management strategies for the investigation and treatment of patients at increased cardiovascular risk; demonstrate knowledge and competence in Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine and develop and deliver Preventative Cardiovascular interventions for the wider population.

Assessment

Students are expected in the first 8 weeks to interact with their tutor on a weekly basis. Students select a specific project and submit a project summary/proposal (approximately 1,500 words).

Once the proposal has been approved, the professional project (10,500 words) itself is then completed through online guidance and supervision offered by the tutor.

Our Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine MSc course has been developed for GPs, Secondary Care Trainees in Diabetes, Vascular Surgery, Cardiology, Medical Biochemistry, Allied Health Professionals and Practice Nurses running CV clinics who wish to develop their skills in this area of work. Entry requirements

For international students

Students need a first degree or equivalent (including international qualifications) in a relevant professional healthcare field, such as a medical or nursing degree. Registered healthcare professionals without these recognised qualifications will be considered on an individual basis and a wide range of prior experience may be taken into account. Proficiency in the English Language is also essential to completing our courses. If English is NOT your first language, we ask for proof of competency during the application process. We are able to accept an IELTS overall score of 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 for each band) or an equivalent qualification. TOEFL with a score of 72 overall and a minimum of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing.
