What will I learn?

The Centre for Employment Policy and Equalities brings together a group of researchers specialised in international and national employment and equalities aspects of public policy from disciplines including human resource management, industrial relations, labour market studies and the political economy of work. Overview: The Centre for Employment Policy and Equalities brings together a group of researchers specialised in international and national employment and equalities aspects of public policy from disciplines including human resource management, industrial relations, labour market studies and the political economy of work.

The interests and current research projects of the group span both private and public sectors, and typically feature high levels of engagement with external institutions – employers, trade unions, and government bodies, aided by a very large Alumni network of practitioners.

Recent and current staff research projects and publications exhibit a diversity of interests and approaches: globalization and precarious work migrant workers and racism global and European trade union organisation, globalization, varieties of capitalism and New Labour policy the operation and policies of MNCs, European Works Councils and social integration/policy comparative HR and industrial relations equalities, work-life balance, employment, pay, policy, institutional arrangements labour history.


UK student visa regulations mean that students classed as overseas for fees purposes may normally only register on a full-time basis, unless they are Distance Learners.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students require an Honours degree with a first or 2.1 classifications, or the equivalent if you have been educated outside the UK. Any other academic and/or professional qualifications you may have are also considered, and in some cases form an integral part of the entrance requirement.
