What will I learn?

Career Technical Education Counseling for evening students in the following programs: Machine Technology and Industrial Maintenance, Environmental Control, Electrical, Welding and Wood Technology.

The Wood Technology department at Laney College offers daytime, evening and weekend classes for beginning and experienced woodworkers. You can begin a new and rewarding career as a professional woodworker, enrich your life with a creative and useful hobby and hone your professional skills to a new level!

Courses are taught by working professionals in a well equipped, state-of-the-art woodshop. Class sizes are small and emphasize safety, as well as technique and procedure. Traditional and contemporary woodworking skills are taught in a hands-on, project based format.

Classes include design and construction for the woodworking professional (one and two-year programs), computer-aided design and manufacture (CAD-CAM), traditional Japanese hand tools and joinery, studio furniture-making, beginning and intermediate classes for the hobbyist as well as the opportunity to do special projects.

*Students should enroll in WDTEC 11 in the same semester as WDTEC 10 and 10L. This will give you the tools to design and layout your project.

For international students

Students must have completed High School/Secondary School Diploma. Applicant must have TOEFL score of 61 ibt, or 6 on the IELTS test. Deadlines to Apply: Fall - June 15; Spring – November 15.
