What will I learn?

Working in media requires the ability to adapt to a fast, ever-changing environment. Whether you picture yourself working for a music company, TV network, film studio, sports team or fashion magazine, majoring in communications/media studies will prepare you to lead and work in this rapidly evolving media landscape.

As the most flexible major in the School of Communications, our BA in Communications/Media Studies allows you to pursue your specific interests and develop in-depth expertise on the business side of media industries. As you explore the latest trends and challenges facing media companies, from the effects of streaming on cable networks to representation in Hollywood, you'll develop the critical and creative thinking abilities and effective communication skills employers are seeking.

Internships, including opportunities to work in LA through the Quinnipiac University in Los Angeles program, challenge you to apply both the knowledge gained from your coursework and creative problem-solving skills to real-world situations.

Our graduates work in a variety of professional fields including film and television, the music and radio industries, magazines, news, sports, fashion, public relations, marketing, advertising and media research.

Entry requirements

For international students

To be considered for admission students must have secondary school transcript.

Acceptable standardized tests to demonstrate English proficiency include:

IELTS (International English Language Test System) - minimum score: 6.5

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - minimum score: 550 (pBT)/85 (iBT)

DUOLINGO - minimum score: 105

PTE - minimum score: 57

Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency - minimum score: 176
