The Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music is a community of artists, performers, composers and scholars committed to preparing you for the professional world of music. The music program at OSU provides you with the opportunity to develop artistically while still being competitive in the profession, which prepares you for success in your chosen music specialty.

Participation in bands, choirs and/or orchestra

One-on-one private instruction with teachers

Invited performances at various conventions
Courses to expect for this major include Music History, Music Theory, Large and Chamber Ensembles, Opera, Jazz Studies and Marching Band Methods.

Entry requirements

For international students

High School GPA 3.0+ (based on a 4.0 scale) and English-language proficiency exam scores (one of the following): iBT TOEFL Internet-Based Score 61+; IELTS Academic Score 5.5+; PTE Academic Score 46+; iTEP Academic Score 3.5+, Duolingo English Test Score 95+.

Note: OSU will only accept the Duolingo English Test (DET) results from students beginning Fall 2024.

Application deadline: For applicants currently living in the U.S. - Fall: July 1, Spring: December 1 and Summer: May 1; For applicants not living in the U.S. - Fall: June 1, Spring: November 1 and Summer: March 1.
