The Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Liberal Arts, Music Concentration provides the student an opportunity to combine music with another field of his or her choosing. Approximately one-third of the curriculum is open for approved electives in another area. These courses must be approved by School of Music Undergraduate Curriculum Committee.
Please note that an audition is required for admission to the Liberal Arts, Music Studies Degree Program. Like all other music degrees at SIUC, the Liberal Arts, Music Degree Program requires music-reading skills and performance proficiency on a musical instrument at university level. The curriculum includes a minimum of four semesters of individual study at the 140 and 240 levels.

Students need to have Transcripts from high school and/or college. At SIU Carbondale, applicants for admission will be eligible for automatic admission if they are on track to complete our course pattern requirements and who meet one of the following criteria: A cumulative high school GPA of 2.75; A ranking in the top 10% of their graduating class.
English Language Requirement: Any one of the following methods will automatically meet the minimum English requirement. Applicants who do not meet the automatic English language admission requirement will undergo a holistic review to determine potential admissibility.
