WHY STUDY THIS PROGRAM?
A degree in Physics at Millersville University allows for the greatest breadth of experience in all aspects of physics and mathematics. This program will equip students to solve complex problems, think clearly, work individually and in groups and to use the real world as a test of their skills, but not as a limit to their thoughts.
Students graduating with the B.S. in Physics are prepared to go on to graduate school in physics and engineering, or to enter the private sector in a technical area. Students have become doctors, technical writers, bioengineers and patent examiners.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
The Department of Physics offers a variety of programs leading to the baccalaureate degree with a major in physics.
The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in physics involves the greatest depth in physics and mathematics. This program prepares you for employment in a technical position or for entrance into a graduate program,
A Bachelor of Science in Education includes a senior semester of practice teaching. Graduates are certified to teach secondary education physics.
The 4/2 program combines a B.S. degree in physics with a Master鈥檚 degree in engineering. You鈥檒l complete your B.S. at Millersville and enter Penn State's Graduate Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics. You can transfer up to six MU credits in physics and mathematics, shortening the time needed to complete your master鈥檚 degree.
3/2 programs are available in materials science from the University of Delaware. The program with Delaware gives you a B.A. in physics from Millersville and a master's in materials science.
All physics degrees require two semesters of research into an area of physics (experimental or theoretical) while outstanding students may also pursue departmental honors during their senior year.
