What will I learn?

Biochemistry is the branch of science that explores the chemical processes within and related to living organisms. You learn to use recombinant DNA technology and biotechnology, as well as protein and genetic engineering.

We customize your education to meet your career goals. You gain a strong foundation in physical and biological sciences and prepare you to succeed for a career in a variety of fields including healthcare, medicine and veterinary sciences. Gain experience and establish relationships in the scientific community through hypothesis-driven undergraduate research, as well as campus organizations such as The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Graduate Student Association and the Pre- Health Professionals Club.

Oklahoma Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (OK-LSAMP) is a consortium of Oklahoma colleges and universities working together to develop programs aimed at increasing the number of students from under-represented populations who receive degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The OK-LSAMP scholarship program provides scholars with increased opportunities and connections, including undergraduate research experiences, graduate school preparation, international experiences and internships/externships with companies in the STEM fields.

Entry requirements

For international students

High School GPA 3.0+ (based on a 4.0 scale) and English-language proficiency exam scores (one of the following): iBT TOEFL Internet-Based Score 61+; IELTS Academic Score 5.5+; PTE Academic Score 46+; iTEP Academic Score 3.5+, Duolingo English Test Score 95+.

Note: OSU will only accept the Duolingo English Test (DET) results from students beginning Fall 2024.

Application deadline: For applicants currently living in the U.S. - Fall: July 1, Spring: December 1 and Summer: May 1; For applicants not living in the U.S. - Fall: June 1, Spring: November 1 and Summer: March 1.
