What will I learn?

Geophysics is a discovery science of the earth and other planets using state-of-the-art technology that integrates geology, mathematics, physics, and computer modeling. Geophysicists explore the earth鈥檚 natural resources such as oil, gas, minerals, and groundwater and detect earthquakes, cavities, and contaminant hazards aiding to societal and environmental sustainability.

Why geophysics at OSU.

OSU Geophysics faculty are committed to enhance student success through engagement in high-quality research spanning from protecting the environment and climate, discovering water resources as well as oil and gas reservoirs, or understanding mountain-building processes around the world. We provide hands-on domestic and international research experiences and prepare students for internships and careers in various industries as well as state, federal, and non-governmental organizations.
