What will I learn?

LIMITED ENTRY PROGRAM

Some of these courses are program prerequisites and MUST be completed before a student is considered eligible for entry into the Program. Students MUST attend a Health Programs Orientation and meet with a Health Programs Advisor for additional advisement.

Students in the last semester of the Associate of Science, Dental Science degree program may be eligible for application if they have completed the program prerequisites and submits a successful mid-semester satisfactory progress report. The A.S. Dental Science degree MUST be conferred before the start of the first semester of the B.S. Dental Hygiene Program.

The Bachelor of Science Dental Hygiene degree is the entry-level program that prepares graduates to become licensed prevention specialists in the dental health team providing health education, administering local anesthesia, removing deposits and stains from teeth, exposing x-rays, and applying topical fluoride. The curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for enhanced roles and responsibilities of dental hygienists in public health, education, administration, research, management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Student Learning Outcomes

Provide treatments that include preventive and therapeutic procedures to promote and maintain oral health and assist the patient in achieving oral health goals.

Integrate research principles, problem solving strategies, and self-assessment to evaluate information in a critical, scientific, and effective manner.

Conduct health promotion and disease prevention activities for diverse populations using various dental hygiene practitioner roles.

Analyze issues of dental hygiene practice with principles of ethical reasoning, evidence-based decision-making, and professional responsibility.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students are required to have international qualification equivalent to U.S. High School diploma. English Proficiency Admission Requirements: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 61 iBT; Duolingo: 90.

Application Deadline: Fall - 1st July, Spring - 15th November, Summer Deadline - 15th Apr.
