Bachelor's-Master of Arts in Strategic Communication and Public Relations (SCPR) Dual Degree Program

USA

1

What will I learn?

Students apply to the dual degree program as incoming freshmen and are admitted directly into the SCPR graduate program at the same time as their admission as undergraduate students. Dual degree students, therefore, have a space reserved for them in the graduate program beginning in their first year, with clear criteria and achievements required to progress into the graduate program.

Combined with advisement from their undergraduate academic advisor, participation in activities and programs offered by the School of Communication, Media & the Arts and the SCPR program provides strong support toward successful progression into graduate study.

Students in the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication & Public Relations Dual Degree Program earn a Bachelor鈥檚 and a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication & Public Relations in five years. Students complete the bachelor鈥檚 degree in the traditional four-year time frame and complete one year of graduate study in the SCPR program, earning both the bachelor鈥檚 degree and the master鈥檚 degree within five years. This option is open to students in the following undergraduate majors:

  • English
  • History
  • Media Arts (with a concentration in Film, Television & Media; Journalism; or Performing Arts)
  • Political Science
  • Philosophy
  • Sociology
  • Spanish
  • Sports Communication & Media
  • Strategic Communication, Public Relations & Advertising

Dual degree students pursuing the SCPR degree may complete up to six credits toward their graduate degree during their undergraduate studies. These credits count toward both the undergraduate and the graduate degrees. Students, therefore, save on the cost of graduate tuition as these credits are included in the cost of the full-time undergraduate tuition.
