What will I learn?

The cybersecurity engineering program provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to design and implement integrated hardware and software cybersecurity systems. Students gain computer engineering and software/hardware-related technical expertise, and graduate with hands-on learning and research experience to solve real-world cybersecurity engineering challenges.

Cyber-physical and hardware aspects of the system are integral part of the curriculum.?In addition to the basic hardware, operating system and communication network knowledge, the curriculum also includes:

Computer forensics
Reverse engineering
Cold boot attacks
Firmware attacks
Electromagnetic attacks
Cache attacks
Power-monitoring attacks
Differential fault analysis
Industrial controller (PLC) vulnerabilities

What can I do with a degree in cybersecurity engineering?

Cybersecurity engineering is a rapidly growing field with a significant talent gap between supply and demand.

Graduates of SIUE鈥檚 cybersecurity engineering program are prepared for the following careers:

Cybersecurity Engineer: designing cybersecurity hardware and/or software for a specific company application or broader industry operations?
Cybersecurity Analyst: advising a private, federal, or state organization on how to defend against threats and attacks

Entry requirements

For international students

Students seeking a bachelor鈥檚 degree from SIUE who have never attended a college or university, and those who may have taken some coursework at a college or university outside the U.S. but do not currently hold a bachelor鈥檚 degree.

English proficiency requirement:

TOEFL: 72

IELTS: 6.0 (no component score under 5.5)

PTE: 50

Duolingo: 110
