What will I learn?

A direct entry Master of Nursing (MN) program is designed for students who hold a non-nursing bachelor’s degree and wish to pursue an advanced degree in nursing.

This program is ideal for students who are interested in obtaining a master’s degree and becoming a clinical nurse leader.

Certification Eligibility

Nursing certification is important to students, alumni and the health care facilities they work in.

Graduates of the UWM Master of Nursing program are eligible to take the Clinical Nurse Leaders (CNL) Certification examination. CNLs are providers and managers of patient care. They design, implement and evaluate care by coordinating, delegating and supervising the services provided by their team, which includes licensed nurses, technicians and other health professionals.

About the Direct Entry Master of Nursing

The MN Direct Entry option admits students as a cohort, which allows relationships among peers and faculty to develop through the program. After 16 months, students are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination, allowing students to work as registered nurses while completing the remaining MN credits.

Throughout our curriculum and time spent in the Nursing Learning Resource Center (NLRC), students will have a variety of clinical experiences providing a broad overview of all of the major specialties in which nurses work, as well as a variety of settings across the health care field. Students also have volunteer opportunities to expand their education.

MN graduates are eligible to take the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Certification examination.
