The Biology Department offers a Ph.D. degree with specialization based on expertise of the faculty members in the following areas: Cellular & Molecular Biology Ecology, Systematics & Evolution, Physiology. The completion of the degree qualifies individuals for university teaching, research, or professional work in the respective discipline. Each candidate's individual program of study (coursework) is based on the individual's knowledge and ability upon entering the program and their specific objectives. After completion of course work, all students must pass written and oral qualifying examinations, followed by submission of an acceptable dissertation based on original research. Hold a master鈥檚 degree granted by a regionally accredited institution (for international students, a degree granted by a recognized institution), unless applying to a department/program that accepts students with undergraduate degrees.
Have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in all courses taken at the graduate or undergraduate level.
Other English Language Requirements:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of a minimum of 550 on the regular examination or 213 on the computer-based examination.
